Cape Town, bustling port city of South Africa’s southwest coast located on a striking peninsula facing the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, legislative capital of the country and the seat of the South African Parliament highlighted by a unique natural setting in the Cape Floristic Region and boasting stunning landmarks like Cape Point and Table Mountain launched an In - Room hospitality campaign to boost investment and tourism.
This new marketing initiative is being rolled out in partnership with FEDHASA, the Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa to ensure a wide distribution across the metro’s hospitality venues and was launched at the Hotel and Hospitality Expo Africa.
The campaign aimed at visitors staying in guesthouses and hotels in the city, uses QR codes on the cards to link directly to Cape Town’s destination portal “This is Cape Town” and its business platform “Invest Cape Town”, launched to strengthen and promote the city’s status as a high - performance, African business hub that support big ideas and innovation and with the mission to attract and retain foreign direct investment which is of strategic importance to the economic development of Cape Town.
Part of the City’s five - point plan to grow the visitor economy, which includes expanding air connectivity, increasing cruise traffic, launching and promoting diverse experiences.
This campaign represents a continuation of the strong recovery and positive performance of the city which is experiencing a relevant increase in both international and domestic visitors.
Cape Town is seeing a surge in air travel with a notable rise in international passenger numbers and a record - breaking year for international travellers through its airport, key attractions are also reporting increased visitor numbers and spending, indicating a robust tourism economy.
With this new campaign Cape Town tourism momentum continues with hotel occupancy hitting 64.6% in April, well above the national average and 36 business events secured for the coming years, expected to contribute R745 million to the local economy.
