Federalberghi Roma Against the Ticket for Access to Trevi Fountain

Federalberghi Roma, the Trade Union Association of hoteliers in Rome and its province strongly opposes the application of an access ticket to the iconic Trevi Fountain, Baroque masterpiece of the 18th century located in the heart of the eternal city.

Il Messaggero, a famous daily newspaper based in the Italian capital, published the declarations of the President of Federalberghi Roma Giuseppe Roscioli who remarked his opposition to this proposal put forward by the Roman City Council, underlining that tourist flows to this great attraction can be better controlled.

A regulation of tourist flows is necessary as the space around Fontana di Trevi is reduced and visitors are many but totally opposed to a possible entrance ticket, emphasizing that already exists one of the most expensive tourist tax in Europe.

The President then underlined that the hypothesis of an entrance ticket to the Trevi Fountain makes no sense since this initiative should also be established for other outdoor tourist sites and that the mythical, iconic Fountain is not a museum but an iconic open-air monument located in a square and the squares of Rome must remain open and be visitable by everyone.
