IHCL - The Indian Hotels Company Limited | To Open a New Gateway Hotel in Pune, Maharashtra, India

IHCL, the Indian Hotels Company Limited, a renowned hospitality group founded in 1902 and based in Mumbai, India, part of Tata Group and boasting a large portfolio of hotels, resorts and properties across the entire Indian territory has signed an agreement to open a new Gateway hotel in Pune, a sprawling city in the Deccan plateau in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.

The project is part of a mixed - use development and aims to expand IHCL's presence in urban clusters like Pune, a centre in notable expansion and a popular destination for both business and leisure travellers. 

The hotel will be located in a locality established in the mid 19th century by the name "Bibvewadi" and over the years has grown and developed into a relevant residential area. 

This neighbourhood of Pune is experiencing a notable growth due to infrastructure and commercial developments and is known for its verdant setting, it has a mix of traditional and contemporary architecture, home to a unique blend of cultures and communities and offering several dining and shopping options. 

The property will feature 180 comfortable rooms, an all -  day dining restaurant, a bar, and a specialty restaurant. Recreational amenities will include a gym, and a swimming pool, while for events the property will offer approximately 4.000 square feet of banqueting space, with smaller meeting rooms and pre - functions areas.

The hotel will enter into the Gateway Hotel brand owned by IHCL, a mid - market, full - service brand focuses on providing a simple and hassle - free experience for business and leisure travellers.

Pune, is a centre famous for its rich history, diverse culture, known as the "Oxford of the East" due to its many educational institutions, a city which boasts a vibrant arts and music scene, historical sites like Shaniwar Wada, and a popular destination for its pleasant climate and nearby hill stations.

In addition the city is renowned for its thriving industrial and service sectors, encompassing IT, pharmaceuticals, and automobile manufacturing, and its proximity to educational and residential hubs significantly contributes to its strategic importance for hospitality development.
