Slovenia | All Aboard for Culture : a Sustainable Travel Initiative to Explore the Country’s Historic Towns by Train

Slovenia, a country in Central Europe, well known for its notable cultural and historical heritage, diverse landscapes, include mountains, valleys, lakes, caves, renowned ski resorts, a stretch of attractive Adriatic coastline launched “All Aboard for Culture”, a sustainable travel initiative inviting visitors to explore Slovenia’s most charming historic towns by train and public transport.

Supported by the Association of Historic Towns of Slovenia, the Slovenian Museum Association and Slovenian Railways, the campaign started on 23rd June and running until 31st August, encourages slow travel and meaningful cultural discovery.

The campaign features over 80 museums, galleries, and heritage sites across 20 towns, offering discounts or free entry upon presentation of a valid public transport ticket. 

Presenting a valid Slovenian Railway ticket or proof of travel with the IJPP card grants a 20% discount on regular admission fees to participating cultural institutions in historic towns, according to Galerija likovnih samorastnikov Trebnje.

This green travel initiative, an eco - friendly alternative to car combines the joy of a train journey with the opportunity to discover several attractions, from castle tours, medieval towns and underground tunnels to lace - making traditions and curated exhibitions, a very attractive invitation for visitors ensuring a convenient, scenic and unique travel experience.
