Kaya Tourism Group | London Great Northern Hotel Acquisition

Kaya Tourism Group, Turkish company part of Kaya Holding that manages 13 hotels in Turkey and Cyprus through its Kaya Palazzo Hotels & Resorts and Kaya Hotels & Resorts brands, has acquired its first property in Great Britain with the Great Northern Hotel in London located in King's Cross in the heart of the UK capital.

The historic Great Northern Hotel, believed to be London's oldest railway hotel dating back to 1854, is housed in a Grade II listed building, designed by renowned architect Lewis Cubitt, who also designed the famous London Bridge and King's Cross stations, two of London's most important underground hubs.

The 88-room property completed a £40 million refurbishment in 2013 and opened several F&B stores in 2015 and became the first property to join the Starwood Tribute portfolio, which later became part of the Marriott Group following a successful merger in 2016.

In 2021, the Great Northern Hotel became the first management contract in Great Britain for Marugal Distinctive Hotel Management, which at the time managed a group of eight hotels in France and Spain.

After this acquisition, the Turkish hotel group is considering a further expansion in Europe and the Chairman of Kaya Holding said that the group is pleased to have made the first international hotel investment in a very important city as London an operation that will strengthen the reciprocal tourism relations between Turkey and Great Britain.
