Very encouraging figures and data in incoming tourism for a positive future

Lyon the largest center in the Auvergne – Rhone Alps region, a city of France with a notable historical past and a national cultural hub is benefiting significantly from the recovery of tourism.

Positive notes had already been found in 2023 with 9.4 million of business overnights (+12% compared to 2023 were recorded, including 5.4 million today (+11% compared to 2023 and a +2% compared to 2019 a year which was pretty positive) spent in the city hotels.

The pandemic and the consequent resulting crisis it already seems to be part of the past with a notable increasing and huge recovery in incoming to Lyon, all that is due to the events celebrated and the authentic driving force of the exhibition sector according to the statements and data of the director of ONLYLYON Tourism et Congres Virginie Carton.

Lyon establishes itself as the second French center for the planning of conferences, meetings, conventions and the organization of events for professionals from different sectors with a hotel capacity of almost 20,000 rooms.

 According to the data recorded, 75% are tourists from the national market and 25% come from abroad mainly linked to business trips, niche which is constantly the strength of leisure tourism which reaches peaks of around 60%.

In the last year almost 1 million visitors have used services provided by local incoming operators for the reasons mentioned above as the second French hub in the MICE segment, cultural visits, city sightesing, Lyon City Card, museum entrances and much more are also date very encouraging for very interesting proposals in theme of cultural tourism.

Lyon is preparing to challenge the tomorrow with a very positive spirit with the intention of increasing the number of overnight stays and the duration both on the business and cultural tourism side, increasingly showing a very attractive offer and new attractive proposals for the future.

Seville opens its doors to a great event that is essence and part of its profound culture, history and folklore, the Feria de Abril which will take place from 14 to 20 April, a week in which the charming Andalusian capital will live with joy, cheerfulness, intensity and great participation enjoying unique moments.

The history of the Feria de Abril dates back almost two centuries ago, exactly from 1846 when it was decided to celebrate an annual fair lasting three days dedicated to agriculture, the trade and selling of livestock in the month of April through the intercession of the councilors Narciso Bonaplata and Jose Maria Ibarra.

Over the years, the agricultural-commercial face of this event changed considerably, transforming itself into a sort of festival animated by the desire to have fun, enjoying delicious gastronomy, typical local dances such as the famous "Sevillanas", reaching a fame and prestige that went beyond the Iberian borders, becoming an event internationally renowned.

The fairground animated by numerous stands transforms into the main hub of the city in a very lively atmosphere starting with the moment of lighting with different colored bulbs highlighting the main entrance door giving the weekday enclosure a unique and fascinating image.

The “Feria” is also celebrated on the streets of the complex with the opportunity of free access to some stands which are open to the public with information available at the entrance o the Fair.

Folklore and local traditions come together to form a unique scenario with women wearing typical "flamencos" and gypsy costumes and men wearing peasant and traditional clothes.

During the daytime in the space where the "feria" takes place you will be able to admire splendidly decorated carriages which can also be rented, men and women on horseback all that give life to the famous "cabalgada".

Not to be missed near the complex is Calle del Infierno which is a very lively area ideal for enjoying tapas and various drinks.

Every afternoon in the Plaza de Toros de La Maestranza located near the river Guadalquivir bullfights take place representing an important and historical local traditon with the opportunity to purchase tickets and season tickets online or by calling the Maestranza offices.

The grand final of the Feria de Abril after a week lived with great intensity will be enlivened by a magnificent fireworks display which marks the end of this great Sevillian event which is very significant in its concept of see you next year.
