Very encouraging figures and data in incoming tourism
for a positive future
Lyon the largest center in the Auvergne – Rhone Alps region, a city of France with a notable historical past and a national cultural hub is benefiting significantly from the recovery of tourism.
Positive notes had already been found in 2023 with 9.4 million of business overnights (+12% compared to 2023 were recorded, including 5.4 million today (+11% compared to 2023 and a +2% compared to 2019 a year which was pretty positive) spent in the city hotels.
The pandemic and the consequent resulting crisis it already seems to be part of the past with a notable increasing and huge recovery in incoming to Lyon, all that is due to the events celebrated and the authentic driving force of the exhibition sector according to the statements and data of the director of ONLYLYON Tourism et Congres Virginie Carton.
Lyon establishes itself as the second French center for the planning of conferences, meetings, conventions and the organization of events for professionals from different sectors with a hotel capacity of almost 20,000 rooms.
According to the data recorded, 75% are tourists from the national market and 25% come from abroad mainly linked to business trips, niche which is constantly the strength of leisure tourism which reaches peaks of around 60%.
In the last year almost 1 million visitors have used services provided by local incoming operators for the reasons mentioned above as the second French hub in the MICE segment, cultural visits, city sightesing, Lyon City Card, museum entrances and much more are also date very encouraging for very interesting proposals in theme of cultural tourism.
Lyon is preparing to challenge the tomorrow with a very positive spirit with the intention of increasing the number of overnight stays and the duration both on the business and cultural tourism side, increasingly showing a very attractive offer and new attractive proposals for the future.
