Guanajuato – Mexico | Strengthening Identity and Competitiveness with the State Tourism Program 2024 – 2030

 

Guanajuato, Mexican state, located in Bajio in the north - central region of of the country within the Mesa del Centro, the Sierra Madre Oriental and the Neovolcanic axis, well known for its relevant colonial, baroque and neoclassical architecture, mining past and with authentic jewels as the city of San Miguel de Allende, with a territory boasting varied landscapes highlighted by imposing mountains and suggestive valleys through the development of the State Tourism Program 2024 - 2030 launching a first Working Group has taken a significant important step towards strengthening the identity and competitiveness of its tourism sector.

The Secretary of Tourism and Identity of Guanajuato Lupita Robles León accompanied by the Deputy and President of the Tourism Commission of the State Congress Luis Ricardo Ferro Baeza in the municipality of Silao, met with the main leaders of the tourism sector with the primary objective of listening to and emphasizing the priority axes that will be enriched by the Metropolitan Area of León and the Bajio Industrial Corridor starting from 25 November 2024.

The Secretary of Tourism and Identity stated that following the instructions of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Muñoz Ledo, the main objective of this round table is to lay the foundations for the State Tourism Program 2024 - 2030 which will be built with the voice of all the components of the tourism sector.

The commitment is to build tourism that celebrates local identity and enhances the economic growth of Guanajuato. This is a work that will be carried out by and for with the tourism industry in collaboration with the municipal councils.

The programme seeks to be able to represent all actors in the value chain and to project a shared vision focused on effective strategies and to this end.  

Regional forums are designed to meet the specific needs of each municipality and region, ensuring that the State Tourism Programme promotes sustainable development and at the same time strengthens the local culture and economy.

Organized in seven regions, these forums will provide a space to gather essential information and ensure that this program promotes responsible tourism practices and reflects the traditions, values and heritage that make the State of Guanajuato unique.

Honduras | Commitment to Promoting Mayan Tourism

 

Honduras, Central American country overlooking the Gulf with the same name with a coastal stretch of over 640 kilometres along the Caribbean Sea and facing the Pacific Ocean in correspondance of Gulf of Fonseca, highlighted by pristine beaches with crystalline waters presenting a territory made up of mountains, boasting a rich biodiversity with a large rainforest near the border with Guatemala, affirmed its commitment to the promotion of Mayan tourism.

This announcement was declared during the 80th MMO Regional Meeting, linked to the Mundo Maya Organization held in the famous town of San Pedro in Belize in the island of Ambergris Caye, famed centre for its beauty andis thought to be the main inspiration behind the song "La Isla Bonita" by American singer Madonna from her album True Blue recorded in 1986.

This important meeting was attended by representatives of the five member countries of the MMO such as Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico.

This commitment is linked to the ancestral origins of the country, a pleasant return to the roots, historically Honduras was the homeland of ancient, important Mesoamerican culture among them the Maya who however had almost completely abandoned the Honduran territory by the 10th century to move further north to present - day when they reached Guatemala and the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.

Honduras has now affirmed the commitment to promote cultural tourism also linked to the civilization of the ancestors and sustainable tourism of the region in line with the objectives of the organization.

Belize assumed the Pro Tempore Presidency of the organization and representing Honduras was present the Deputy Minister of Tourism Reizel Vilorio who introduced initiatives to strengthen the tourism sector within the framework of the organization's regional plan.

A key theme addressed during the meeting was the review of the progress made by the MMO in recent years and in particular in the area of promoting Mayan tourism.

The event presented the new plan of the MMO which aims to serve as a guide for tourism actions in the coming years in the entire region and also a further one that aims to promote more integrated tourism, focused on strengthening connectivity between the member countries of the organization.

This strategic plan of the MMO focuses on consolidating a multi-destination offering that brings advantages and benefits to all members countries, highlighting the Mayan heritage while promoting cultural tourism, conservation and sustainability.

The Honduran Deputy Minister of Tourism underlined the importance of the country in this framework of regional collaboration by declaring the will and commitment to continue to strengthen sustainable tourism as the economic engine of the country.

The MMO committee continues to work in partnership with the private sector to develop initiatives that drive economic growth and promote the region as an attractive and culturally rich, tourist destination.

Saudi Arabia | Inauguration of Sindalah, Luxury Island Part of Neom Megaproject

 

Saudi Arabia is currently developing, Neom huge urban area in the province of Tabuk province situated at the northern tip of the Red Sea, due east of Egypt across the Gulf of Aqaba, a project launched in 2017 by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman a futuristic megacity in the Saudi Kingdom that will host several tourist destinations that will revolutionize the Middle East tourism industry and the Arab country has inaugurated Sindalah, a luxury island part of this megaproject.

This is the first project on the launch pad of Neom, a destination that is destined to become a central hub of Saudi tourism, with a marina designed to accommodate a large number of yachts of various sizes on an area of 840.000 square meters, a place that also aims to welcome 2.400 visitors a day by 2028.

Neom Destination Manager Nadhmi al-Nasr said that Neom's first destination, Sidalah offers visitors a taste of what the future holds for our extensive portfolio of destinations and the development of this area.

This mega-project, which will have its own airline, is well known for the famous The Line, a building with two mirrored facades designed to extend for 170 kilometers through the desert of the Gulf of Aqaba, also known as Gulf of Eliat, at the northern tip of the Red Sea, east of the Sinai Peninsula and west of the Arabian Peninsula with a coastline comprising four nations such as Egypt,  Israel, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Prince Mohammad bin Salman, in 2022 on the occasion of the presentation of The Line, announced that the place would host more than a million inhabitants in 2030, reaching 9 million in 2045, although the developers, after careful analysis, have reduced the ambitions to 300.000 inhabitants and 2.4 kilometers of the project built by the end of the decade, according to the well-known American agency Bloomberg.

This project is being carried out in parallel with others included in the famous Vision 2030, government programme launched by the Saudi Kingdom which aims to achieve the goal of incresead diversification economically, socially and culturally of the country in line with the vision of the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aimed at ensuring the development of the world's leading export of crude oil in a potential future of oil-free.

In addition to all that Arab country is also the only candidate to host the 2034 World Cup, the assignment of which will be announced by the FIFA body in December and in Saudi Arabia, the suspense is immense, an event of infinite value for the Saudi Kingdom as another page to write in a constantly open book with a multitude of projects to be developed and launched on the Arabian Peninsula.
