Cuba | China Will Provide Assistance by Modernising the Cuban General Customs to Make it Competitive Globally

China, reinforces its influence in Cuba, and in a new chapter of its global expansion, the Asian country will provide assistance by modernising the Cuban General Customs of the Caribbean Republic to make it competitive globally.

Cuba Prime Minister Manuel Marrero met in Havana with the Deputy of the GACC, the General Administration of Customs of China, Lyu Weihong according to state television and replicated by other media of the ruling party such as the newspaper Granma.

On the occasion the Cuban government also celebrated Chinese support as strength, noting that both countries are commemorating 65 years of bilateral relations.

The Prime Minister of Cuba praised the training program of Cuban Customs from China and the administrative assistance promoted since 2012 and which after the signing of a new memorandum of understanding, will be extended until 2027.

However, behind the discourses of solidarity and cooperation between the two countries, a critical reading emerges; China's growing involvement in strategic sectors of the Caribbean island reinforces Cuba's technological and administrative dependence on Beijing.

In a context of internal crisis, the transfer of modern models could also imply the transplantation of more controlled practices that characterize the Chinese customs apparatus and something that they have been warning about from the highest levels of Cuban customs.

Chinese Vice Minister Lyu Weihong assured that China will deepen support to achieve a modern advanced and internationalallty competitive customs service, stating that China and Cuba have made progress supporting each other in recent years, under the strategic leadership of both top leaders, which is an example of solidarity pretty common among socialist countries based on cooperation and development in different areas.

The Madrid Business Forum, representing the business community's response to the pressing need to transform the Community of Madrid into a space favorable to business activity, and to enhance the role of businesspeople in a social life, through its President, Hilario Alfaro asked on behalf of its 350 partners, some such as Mahou, Seat or Iberia for a new airport for the city, the start - up of the Castellana Conference Centre, the construction of the tallest Ferris wheel as an icon of the south of the city, a tourist tax for the promotion, the AVE high speed train to Lisbon, and the celebration in the Spanish capital of the Olympics in 2040.

The city’s Business Forum that claims not to receive subsidies believes that Adolfo Suárez Madrid - Barajas Airport is close to collapse because its four runway are no longer enough and they demand a new airport, either to replace the Barajas airport or to complement it, which could be located in the south of the city, and to do something with the 500 people sleeping at the airport according to the Spanish national daily newspaper, ABC.

In addition the Madrid Business Forum defends a project by Carlos Rubio for the tallest Ferris wheel in the world with 261 metres that already has a private sponsor with one hundred per cent of the expense, and would create 500 jobs in the area of the Enrique Tierno Galván park, between the Imax Cinema and the Planetarium.

Despite the rejection of the resident there is the  risk that Morocco is going to take this project, with the North African country that has already taken an interest.

Madrid Business Forum also critices the fact that the Castellana Conference Centre has been inexplicably closed for more than ten years, and a further request is the high speed train AVE Madrid - Lisbon to operate in 2030, and not as is already being said in 2034.

Another petition is that one linked to manage another attempt concerning the 2040  Olympic Games entering in compwtition with Berlin, which his candidacy is very advanced.
