Italy - Paraguay | Strengthening their Cultural Ties Highlighting the Historical Importance of the Spaces of Heritage Value at the iconic Misión Jesuitica the la Santisima Trinidad del Paraná

Italy and Paraguay decided to strengthen their cultural ties highlighting the historical importance of the spaces of heritage value, a theme which refers to locations, buildings, or landscapes that hold significant cultural, historical, or social relevance to a community, providing a connection to the past and contributing to a a sense of identity through their features, stories and associations with people and events, essentially places that are considered valuable due to their heritage significance.

The Italian Ambassador to Paraguay, Marcello Fondi, visited the iconic Misión Jesuitica the la Santisima Trinidad del Paraná, the Most Holy Trinity of  Paraná in the department of Itapúa in the southern region of Paraguay, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993.

The Misión Jesuitica the la Santisima Trinidad del Paraná was established in 1706 and completed in 1712 designed to convert the indigenous Guarani to Christianity.It is one of the 30 missions erected by the Jesuits in various locations in South America between the 17th and 18th centuries in what is now Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina and they are an integral part of the World Heritage of Humanity, constituting a valuable testimony of the presence of the Jesuits in the region, and today continuing to attract national and international tourists every year.

Currently the Jesuit complex that was constructed in stone with a fine dome and elaborate decorations is an archaeological ruin well preserved that includes a main church, a small church, a plaza, belfry, college and cloister, housing, gardens, and workshops.

 The Ambassador of Italy in Paraguay during his visit invited Italians living in Paraguay, as well as tourists from Italy to get know this important historical site, pointing out that every time you are fortunate enough to visit Paraguay, you should come to this place, because it tells the history of the country and also the religious presence in this part of South America.

Greece | The Digital Work Card Fully Implemented also into the Tourism Sector

Greece, country in southeastern Europe, cradle of the Western civilization highlighted by thousands of stunning islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas, boasting a great heritage and top destination for a multitude of travellers through the Minister of Labour and Social Security has confirmed that the Digital Work Card was fully implemented in the food and beverage industries and also in the tourism sector with the debut which took place on 1st March 2025.

 The Ministry announced the specification for the full implementation of the measures, the Greece’s Digital Work Card designed to track employees’s working hours has been in force since September 2024 through a pilot program in the aforementioned sectors, ans since then the Ministry headed by the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Niki Keremeus has held extensive discussions with workers and employers’ representatives to refine its application in the tourism sector.

These several conversations led to accurate adjustments, including acknowledging the time employees need to prepare for work after arriving for example to put on the uniform among other considerations and specifications published on 10th February 2025 by the Ministry’s Secretary General for Industrial Relations, Nick Milapidis reflects these adjustments as : 

•    Ensuring fair compensation and protecting businesses.
•    The main purpose of the Digital Work Card is to ensure that employees are properly compensated for the hours they actually work.
•    The system aims to protect both workers and companies from unfair competition. The Digital Work Card records the employee’s entry and exit times to their workplace.

These schedules are compared with the hours initially declared by the employee on the Ergani digital platform, a tool designed to document and manage key employment information.#

Any discrepancies between the two times are flagged and notified, in addition penalties will be imposed if a worker is found at their workplace without their card having been registered, or if they remain there after their departure time has been recorded.

 Guidelines for Daily Logging

The Ministry has provided specific guidelines on how the Digital Work Card should be registered on a daily basis as : 

•    Zero Logs. - If an employee is working remotely or is not required to be physically present at the workplace due to certain reasons, for example participating in a strike or not being able to attend work, their daily log should be recorded as zero.
•    Two Registrations -  If the employee works at the company’s facilities during a continuous shift, only two registrations are required, one at the beginning and one at end of the shift and in between, additional registrations will not be considered.
•    Four Check - Ins. - Employees working two shifts on the same day will be required to clock in and out for both the morning and afternoon shifts, and afain, intermediate r4ecords will not be considered.

Exemptions
•   
It should be noted that employees with managerial, inspection, or also high – security roles are exempt from the requirenment to use digital work cards.

Guatemala | Key Agreements Signed with UN Tourism to Position the Country as a Destination of Excellence

Within Inguat’s efforts to position Guatemala as a tourist destination of excellence on the international map, these two relevant agreements are improving air connectivity in the country and to update the Master Plan for Sustainable Tourism. 

The Master Plan for Sustainable Tourism should encompass a comprehensive strategy to develop tourism in a region while prioritizing environmental protection, socio - cultural preservation, and economic benefits for local communities, achieving a balanced approach across the three P, “People, Planet, Profit”, pillars, with key elements including, baseline assessment, stakeholder engagement, responsible tourism practices, infrastructure development, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, and finally adaptation to climate change, all tailored to the unique characteristics of the destination.

The aim with this Master Plan is to promote sustainable tourism development in Guatemala, a country that has in the tourism industry, a pillar of its economic and social progress.

The vision is to guide the sustainable development of tourism for the next years, with the intention of consolidating and promoting the growth of the sector and taking advantage of its socio - economic benefits, in terms of foreign exchange generation and employment, allowing Guatemala to be recognized as one of the most interesting cultural tourism destinations in Latin America.

Uruguay | Notable Growth in Domestic Tourism Applying Successful Strategies
