Rio de Janeiro, city of considerable importance in Brazil will host the 20th Annual Meeting of the Technical Committee for Tourism of the International Organization for Standardization ISO with the confirmation of the Minister of Tourism.
ISO is an international institution that deals, discusses and establishes important safety tests and standards in various industries and sectors including tourism.
Coordinating efforts to bring the event to the country during this year's meeting held in Marseille, France, was Embratur, the Brazilian Tourism Board, a state-owned federal agency attached to Brazil's Ministry of Tourism.
Alongside Embratur and ABNT, the Ministry of Tourism, the Confederation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism, CNC, the Brazilian Association of Ecotourism and Adventure Tourism Companies and Sebrae participated.
The technical committee is attended by 105 countries and about twenty organizations such as United Nations Tourism, Small Business Standards, SBS, World Federation of Tourist Cities WTCF with the presence of experts and academics to discuss quality standards and good practices for tourism.
