Dominican Republic | Proposal to Mexico to Join a Multi Destination Plan

In a recent visit to Mexico, the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic David Collado, presented the campaign "Saborea el paraiso, Saborea Dominicana" Savour the Paradise, Savour the Dominican Republic to 800 Mexican travel agents and tour operators, that will seek the Mexican government to follow up on the plans to create a Multi Destination Plan with countries in the region to enhance tourism in both countries.

In local media the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic said that it's as an issue that have been worked on with the previous Secretary of Tourism, it is an agreement between Mexico and the Dominican Republic but also involving other Latin American countries to promote multi – destination tourism, similar to what is done in Europe and, this could include the creation of a joint fund for promotion.

To promote multi destination, it is necessary to replicate the European example when people of Latin America and all those who live in the Caribbean for example visiting Madrid in Spain combining this Spanish destination with Italy or Portugal, that there is not a single stop and that has to be the strategy in the Dominican Republic and other countries, so in this way the tourism continues to grow.

The Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic also stressed that a hub has been established in the Caribbean country, that not only facilitates the traffic of Dominican travellers to Mexico but also connect passengers from other countries such as Argentina, Brazil and Canada, thus increasing traffic between the nations.

A Multi destination trip presents itself as an opportunity, as twelve additional frequencies have been added to the existing routes between Mexico and the Dominican Republic, allowing for daily flights and this includes connection from Mexico City and Cancun to Santo Domingo and Punta Cana.
