INDEC Statistics | Outgoing Tourism Grows and Incoming Decreases in Argentina

 

According to the report published in July 2024 regarding the statistics of international tourism by INDEC, the National Institute of Statistics and Census the Argentina's public body that operates within the Ministry of Economy exercising the direction of all stastical activities carried out in the South American country, an increase in citizens residing in Argentina traveling abroad and a 24.4% drop in international inbound tourism is confirmed.

Significant data indicate notable drops in arrivals by land with a decrease of 27.2% and at river and sea level with a drop of 32.4% in outbound tourism.

As regards the data related to the waterway-maritime sector, there was a negative inflection of 3.8% while air and land routes recorded increases of 29.8% and 25.1% respectively.

A relevant and specific case concerns the Paso del Cristo Redentor also known as Paso Internacional Los Libertadores in the Andes between Argentina and Chile, the main transport route out of the Chilean capital city Santiago into Mendoza province in Argentina which has recorded an increase of over 200%.

As for the main destinations chosen by Argentine citizens for their trips abroad, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Europe and the United States of America stand out in order.

As far as the incoming sector is concerned, the main countries of origin that arrive in Argentina are Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay and followed by the rest of America.
