British Airways plc, the flag carrier airline of the Great Britain member of the Alliance One World founded in 1974 and headquartered in Harmondsworth in th London Borough of Hillingdon near its main hub at Heathrow Airport expands its codeshare network to India and Brazil.
The British airline has in fact signed important codeshare agreements, with IndiGo, Indian low-cost airline founded in 2006 headquartered in Gurugram also known as Gurgaon, city just southwest of New Dehli, the largest airline in India by fleet size and passenger carried and Latam Airlines Brasil, founded in 1976, formerly TAM Linhas Aéreas, headquartred in São Paulo, the Brazilian brand of LATAM Airlines Group operating international and domestic flights from hubs in Brasilia, Fortaleza and São Paulo.
The codeshare agreement, a business arrangement common in the aviation industry in which two or more airlines company publish and market the same flight under their own airline designator and flight number as part of their published timetable or schedule, represents a strategic expansion operation for British Airways which as reported by simpleflying.com, leading independent portal and voice for aviation news and insight, will allow customers numerous options.
As for the codeshare agreement already operational from 30 September with IndiGo, travelers will be able to reach various destinations in India with the British Airways code, including Goa and Ahmeddabad with 39 routes available from London - Heathrow airport, while as regards the agreement with Latam from 27th October 2024 they will double the flight frequencies with destination São Paulo, the most populous city in Brazil, South America and the American continent and hub of considerable importance globally.
