Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra announced that the government intends to revitalize the tourism sector by injecting 157 billion bath, more than €4.2 billion into the economy, with a plan that will focus on strengthening the safety and comfort of visitors, with the aim of of making the country an even more attractive destination and enhancing its competitiveness in the region.
The head of the government of Thailand chaired the second meeting dedicated to the situation of tourism in the country with discussion focused on five strategic areas :
• Public relations campaigns
• Tourist safety
• Travel facilitation
• Development of tourism infrastructures
• Organization of events designed to boost the sector in the short and long term
The Prime Minister, quoted by the local press, emphasized the need for effective coordination among the various stakeholders involved to ensure the success of these initiatives.
This move is a continuation to other investments by the Thai Government aiming to reach pre - pandemic revenue level by 2025, includes a substantial stimulus package, strategic initiatives focused on attracting high - spending tourists, longer - term infrastructure upgrades in major destinations next to the “Half – Half Thai Travel “ project, a co – payment scheme to encourage domestic tourism.
