Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, international luxury hotel and resort company founded in 1979 in Dallas - Texas – U.S. and headquartered in Hong Kong, renowned group for its dedication to creating unique ambiance and style with industry - defining, perosonalized service will open on 1st March 2025 the Rosewood Miyakojima, brands's first hotel in Japan and the resort has begun taking reservations.
The resort is located on the largest and the most populous island among the Miyako Islands of Okinawa Prefecture in Miyakojima, modern city established on 1st October 2005, from the merger of the former cities of Hirara, Gusubuke, Irabu and Shimoli and the town of Ueno, nestled in sugarcane fields of the island and overlooking Oura Bay, boasting the largest recorded blue coral colony in the world.
Rosewood Hotels and Resorts said that the architecture draws from the culture, history and landscape of the Ryukyu Islands, blending Okinawan materials such as Ryukyu limestone and characterized by the Japanese spirit of wabi - sabi, an aesthetic concept and philosophy that finds beauty in things that are imperfect and incomplete, a term coming from the Japanese words wabi which translated means less is more and sabi meaning,attentive melancholy.
The Rosewood Miyakojima will feature 55 rooms, each with views of the sea and a large variety of dining options such as a restaurant serving locally sourced products including Miyako wagyu beef, freshly caught fish and the famed Okinawa sake, awamori, Choma will offer a refined take on Miyakojima's seasonal harvest, Yukuu will be tge poolside bar, Maas will be a special gastronomic option focusing on seafood and simple ingredients while Nagi will offer an all-day Italian dining experience.
Guests can enjoy an infinity pool by the beach, Asaya Spa with its six treatment rooms,, wellness treatments featuring traditional Okinawan ingredients, including a mud mask inspired by the local Paantu Festival, a yoga studio, a fitness center and spaces to celebrate weddings and other events will be held at a private pavilion overlooking the sea.
The hotel will also offer a programme of activities to connect with the local culture, with the opportunity to explore the island, from calligraphy with an artist to snorkeling over coral reefs to encounters with sea turtles.
