CATA | Central America Strengthens its Global Presence in 2025 Focusing on Innovation and Sustainability

CATA, the Central American Tourism Promotion Agency, organization which promotes multi – destination tourism internationally, executing and controlling the tourism promotion policies, strategies and activites of the region in international markets held the LXXV Ordinary Meeting of its Board of Directors, led by the Minister of Nicaragua, Anasha Campbell, who holds the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Agency.

The meeting highlighted the role of CATA as a key platform to position Central America as a competitive multi – destination in tourism at international level and the focus on sustainability and accessibility was central to the dialogue among the Central American nations.

The presentation of the event was given by the CATA Secretaty General Boris Iraheta and during the session the authorities of the public and private sector of regional tourism learned about the progress and results obtained in the actions implemented during the second half of 2024.

The bloc of the countries reaffirmed its commitment to adapt the region's tourism offer to global travel trends, with the aim to promote responsible practices that preserve cultural and natural heritage.

CATA with planned actions will prioritize the development of specialized products such as birdwatching, a tourist niche in addition to traditional experiences in archaeology, culture and nature, in order to attract high - value visitors consolidating the region as a sustainable destination.

The Agency looking ahead to 2025 will continue to establish strategic partnerships with leading wholesale buyers, airlines, international tourism organizations and digital platforms.

These collaborations will seek to maximize the reach of regional promotion, diversify connectiving options, ans strengthen the presence of the Central American brand in key and emerging markets.

The LXXV Ordinary Meeting of CATA concluded with a call to action to continue working together and coordinated, consolidating Central America as a unique and diverse destination on the international scene with a clear vision towards 2025 preparing itself to strengthen its global presence and offering unforgettable experiences to travellers from all over the world.
