The programme, which was implemented in 2024 as a pilot project aims to increase the number of seats on international flights to Brazil, this initiatives envisages the creation of public - private partnership with airlines and airports, and will make regionalized announcements, the first in January 2025 and it will focus on attracting flights to the northeast of the country.
The launch ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Northeast Consortium based in the capital Brasilia, an event which was attended by the President of Embratur Marcelo Freixo, the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, the Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino the Governor of Rio Grande do Norte and the President of the Northeast Consortium Fátima Bezerra.
In a speech the President of Embratur stressed that the PATI 2025 programme is a leap forward in relation to the pilot project carried out in 2024 and that only happens because within the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Ports and Airports and Embratur there is a permanent dialogue working all together since week one.
Today, together it is possible to achieve this thanks to this capacity for dialogue and the leap the Institutions are making now is very big, starting with R$63 million in investments that will reach R$120 million with the participation of airlines and airports.
When the Institutions regionalize, the will is to reach each region of Brazil faster and more objectively with the intention to do it in all regions and it is very important to start with the Northeast of the country, this area has to compete with the Caribbean and, for that, it is necessary to integrate regional promotion.
This conception is already a step forward for a country that is in dialogue today, a nation does not have democracy if it does not have dialogue and it is a great leap for all to generate employment, income and development.
The Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho stressed that the intention is to continue strengthening the PATI program, knowing that for every four tourists who come to a city, a job is created ant that stimulates the economy. The common idea is to continue with this programme with the expectations that next year it will be possible to contribute more than R$100 million.
the Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino described the PATI, as historic stressing that there is no doubt making history with programs such as the PATI and other of the Federal Government.
With the partnership of state governments, it's possible turning the key to Brazil's economy, greeting all those involved in the process on behalf of the dear friend Marcelo Freixo paying him all the tributes for the success of international tourism and the effectiveness of the country's international promotion.
Also participating in the meeting were Embratur's Director of International Marketing, Business and Sustainability, Bruno Reis, the Agency's Coordinator of Demads and Multimodal Transport, Philip Karat, Governors João Azevedo of Paraiba, Elmano Freitas from, Ceará, Radael Fonteneles, from Piauí and Fábio Mitideri, from, Sergipe, in addition to the Secretary of Tourism of Bahia, Mauricio Bacelar, and representatives of the civil aviation and tourism sectors.
The PATI investment, in 2025, will be R$63.6 million with a forecast to generate at least 500.000 new jobs within a year.
The Pilot project has already invested R$3.3 million and captured 70.000 seats on international flights for the 2024/2025 summer season, from 27th October 2024 to 30th March 2025.
Brazil will have a record number of international flights for the season, 7.48 million, an increase of 19% compared to the summer of 2023/2024.
For the first regionalized call, focused on the Northeast of the country, R$24 million will be invested, with the forecast of attracting at least 260.000 new seats on international flights within a year.
The programme reinforces the Federal Government's commitment to regional development by strengthening international tourism.
Thus airlines and airports are invited in partnership with companies to launch new international flights to Brazil and present investment proposals to promote these new flights, with actions such as advertising campaigns in the country of origin of the route and campaigns to promote the organization of trips with journalists, digital influencers and international tour operators in the destination.
Embratur's counterpart is financial ; with resources from the FNAC, the agency finances part of the actions to promote these new air routes.
