Vietnam | Strong Tourism Growth with a Big Boost from Asian Tourists

 

Vietnam, a Southeast Asian country overlooking the South China Sea, well known for its splendid, virgin beaches, suggestive rivers, historic, ornated Buddhist pagodas, bustling cities and towns with lively markets, a country which is experiencing a rapid economic and social progress attracted more than 15.8 million international visitors at the end of November 2024, having seen a strong tourism growth in the current year with a big boost from Asian Tourists.

Almost 80% of international visitors are coming from Asia and according to a report by the Vietnam National Authority provided on 6th December 2024, the largest part, about 60% came from China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

November 2024 was the best month of the year with 1.7 million international visitors, a data represents 20.5% more than in October and 38.8% more than the previous year.

By the end of November of the current year Vietnam had welcomed more than 15.8 million tourists, a year - on - year growth of 41%, with South Korea topped the incoming list with 4.1 million visitors followed by China, 3.3 million, Taiwan 1.1 million while other key markets are Australia, Japan and the United States of America.

The Ha Long International Cruise Port, the first cruise maritime hub in Vietnam, which is capable of accommodating the world's largest  yachts travelling to Ha Long Bay also saw a boost with more than 2.800 international passengers arriving on the Celebrity Solstice cruise ship in early December 2024.

Tourism revenue during the first 11 months reached 57.5 trillion dong, approximately $2.3 billion up 17.3% from last year and Vietnam is on track to meet its target of between 17 and 18 million of international visitors by 2024.

Concerning other markets in Europe countries such as France, Italy and the United Kingdom saw significant increases, helped by Vietnam's visa waiver policy for nationals of those countries.

Nowadays Southeast Asia is a very emergent tourism market, this region showed strong growth, with apart Thailand,  Indonesia, the Philipinnes and Singapore among the best performing countries and also with Vietnam, a country which is achieving brilliant results.
