In third place is Taormina, iconic hilltop town on the east coast of Sicily, in southern Italy near Mount Etna, which apart its unique beauty has grown in popularity thanks to the White Lotus TV series, attracting 273.000 searches per month but travellers will need to shell out around £790 per person for a seven – night holiday.

 In fourth place is Palma, lively centre in Mallorca in the Balearic Islands, attractive Spanish archipelago in the Mediterranean, securing an average of 295.000 monthly online searches, and in terms of holidaying there for a seven nights, you would need to pay around £477 per person for a week.

Cascais, renowned resort town in Portugal just west of Lisbon, known for its sandy beaches and busy marina rounds out the top five in the ranking, accumulating 188.800 monthly searches on average and it comes at a higher cost of £656 per person for a seven nights stay.
