China aims to strengthen global tourism ties to position itself as a leading destination in the international landscape capitalising on the growning interest of many international travellers as borders reopen, and trough its Ministry of Culture and Tourism is launching a tourism promotion campaign highlighting Inbound Travel.
The aim is to offer diverse products and authentic experiences, an initiative centering on the 15th China Tourism Day, which falls on 19th May 2025 that will be celebrated with a series of themed activities and public benefits initiatives.
By offering incentive and subsidies, the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism aims to attract more visitors and provide them with an enhanced travel experience, especially in the face of competitors from other destinations in the region.
Running until 31st May 2025 this aggressive campaign according to a press conference with information released by Li Xiaoyong, an official the Ministry, will feature over 6.000 beneficial measures for tourists nationwide, with more than 1.0 billion yuan, about $138.78 million of subsidies to be provided by over 60 cooperative entities.
The campaign is also supported by major tourism platform like Alipay and Meituan, aligned with China's broader digital economy initiatives with the purpose to create new opportunities for tech - driven tourism services and solutions.
China with this campaign will highlight and promote imbound travel, which comes at a pivotal time for the country, as it works to rebound from the impacts of the COVID - 19 global pandemic and this promotion is expected to further accelerate the country's recovery in the tourism sector.
The Asiatic country with its world – class attractions, cultural diversity and a potential offering covering all the tourism segments and niches is positioning itself as must - visit destination for travellers worldwide and the Ministry will work with other authorities to make imbound tourism more convenient providing more diverse tourism proposals to offer visitors authentic experiences.
One of the main goals of the Chinese tourism industry is to diversify tourism offerings to drive both regional and international collaboration, as China is actively working to enhance its tourism indrastructures and at the same time showcasing in the international landscape its rich cultural and historical heritage.
Overseas tourism agencies will be invited to China for on - site visits and business negotiations, while promotion of Chinese tourism resources will be carried out overseas.
In the first quarter of 2025, China's border officers recorded 17.44 million border crossings made by foreign nationals, representing a 33.4% year - on - year increase, according to the National Immigration Administration and the plan is to continue to grow also supported by this relevant promotional campaign which promise to be successful.
