Very traditional are the "Empanadas" often eaten as appetiser, starter or snack like "tapas" in Spain. The "Empanada" from South American countries is different than the classical "Empanada Gallega" from Galicia,in the Spanish Region is mainly used to fill the "Empanada" a kind of a pie composed of a thin bread dough and yeast, or puff pastry stuffed filling with tuna, octopus of seafood in South America and in Peru and Chile the "Empanada" can be filling them with meat, fruit, cheese, olives and seafood too.
Generally the "Empanada" is made with wheat, but can be made from corn and other grains, and sometimes with the addition of some fat, such as oil or butter depending of the culture and tradition of each country.Excellent also the "Empanadas from Argentina,in Buenos Aires everywhere you are from Recoletas to Palermo, from Belgrano to Avellaneda you can find excellent quality of Empanadas very tastefully and delicious.
Another food is often served is the "Palta"also known as "Aguacate" or "Avocado"a delicious food originally from Mexico but cultivated also in Ecuador,Colombia,Peru and Chile. There are many ways to prepare a "Palta" filled by chicken, vegetables, ham, squid seafood they take different name "Reina"(Queen),"Cardenal""Imperial","Emperatriz"(Emperess) ,"York" and so on.In an educational in these countries is fantastic to discover how the way to cook come from ancient traditions and change from area to another area.
"Empanada","Palta" and an excellent glass of Chardonnay,Sauvignon Blanc,Chenin Blanc or Semillon is a great way to start your lunch or dinner.
