Germany, a country that has always been at the forefront of the use of technology as a basis for progress through ONAT, the German National Tourism Office has launched its first influencer project named Emma based on AI, artificial intelligence, incorporating this technology which allows machines and computers to simulate human intelligence and problem-solving capabilities operating in the international promotion of the country as a global destination.
Emma as an AI-generated influencer introduces itself as an innovative interactive brand ambassador created with the aim of inspiring potential travellers 24 hours a day in the digital space, encouraging them to live authentic experiences in Germany discovering the country in depth.
The long-term vision of introducing Emma as a protagonist of tourism promotion of Germany as a global destination is to make her a central element of the digital communication strategy of the National Tourist Office.
The AI influencer project was developed in collaboration with the Startup Creator Agency, a company based in Munich that support enterprises and enterpreneurs in developing the initial idea towards the implementation of their tech concept in form of app and web development.
Emma's profile is a thirty-year-old lady from Berlin boasting a modern and open mindset and a great love for technology and a remarkable passion for travel, components that feed her desire to discover and make people discover Germany as an influencer at 360 degrees.
Through her Instagram account @EmmatravelsGermany Emma inspires her followers to explore the country by accompanying them on their travels and sharing her experiences in an informative and also entertaining way.
In the long term, this influencer created by AI will not only provide information but will turn into a personalized travel companion or in a sort of Travel Destination Manager by developing tailor-made itineraries and tours specifically created for the specific interests of users.
On a technological level, Emma can be considered a sort of "digital human being" completely generated by artificial intelligence thanks to advanced deep learning algorithms and large language models, interacting in chat format with various followers in more than 20 languages.
By the end of 2024 Emma will be able to access not only information from Germany.travel but also real-time data from ONAT's Knowledge Graph.
The President of the board of Directors of ONAT Petra Hedorfer explained that the launch of Emma as an AI influencer is undoubtedly a step forward in the organization's digital strategy.
The implemented artificial intelligence applications complement the digital brand communication and Emma can actively act as a bridge between potential travellers and real experiences in Germany right from the inspiration phase of the Customer Journey.
Emma will play a role as an operator in parallel with the Organization's collaborations with traditional influencers who have generated 148 million impressions on social networks in the last year.
ONAT's AI strategy is essentially based on leveraging technological innovations not by replacing personal experiences in Germany but by improving the potential customer's experience with a service-oriented approach.
