Vietnam | International Tourism Growth by Improving e - Visa Process

 

Vietnam, country at the eastern edge if mainland Southeast Asia, well known for its bustling cities and towns, lively markets, pristine beaches along the Souh China Sea, Gulf of Thailand and the Gulf of Tonkin, rivers and a rich cultural and artistic heritage with its wonderfully decorated Buddhist temples and pagodas, a nation that in 2000 re - established diplomatic relations with the rest of the world and has since been experiencing a rapid economic and social growth aims to receive between 17 and 18 million international visitors by 2024 and linked to that since 11th November, international travellers will be able to apply for their e - visa through a newly launched portal streamlining the process for future visitor.

Since its inception in February 2017 the introduction o the e - visa has streamlined and improved the process and has evolved significantly, adjusting visa types, eligibility and authorized lengths of stay to better serve international travellers planning trips in this South East Asian country.

The Immigration Department of Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security with the advent of advanced technology announced notable improvements as a new portal featuring an improved interface and answers to frequently asked questions in both Vietnamese and English.

This current portal receives approximately 15.000 request daily and it will remain operational while the new site at evisa.gov.vn will be accessible to users.

Nowadays to obtain an e - visa to enter to Vietnam, applicants must upload a passport, photograph and a copy of the passport information page, the system will then compare the uploaded image with the passport picture and pre – fill the e – visa with the relevant data.

Since 15th august 2023 citizens of all countries can apply for an e - visa, with options for single - entry visas at a cost of $25 or multiple - entry visas for $50 and the maximum stay has also been increased moving from 30 to 90 days, a change that undoubtedly gives more flexibility to travellers. 

E-visa holders can enter Vietnam through 42 entry territorial points contributing to the increase of incoming tourism in the country.

According to the data recorded by the National Tourism Administration, more than 14.1 million tourists visited Vietnam in of 2024 marking a notable increase of 41.3% compared to the same period of 2023 and Vietnam aims to reach the goal of welcoming between 17 and 18 million international visitors by the end of 2024.

The major markets are South Korea, China and the United States of America and this improved e – visa system is meant to facilitate that growth in tourism with hope and optimism to achieve the set goal.
