Belize, country situated on the eastern coast of Central America, highlighted by a stunning Caribbean Sea shorelines to the east and a dense tropical jungle to the west, boasting a magnificent barrier reef, dotted with hundreds of cays ans a rich marine life broke record for tourist arrivals last year and it is expecting promising prospects for 2025.
With a 21% increase over the previous year and surpassing pre – pandemic levels, Belize celebrates a historic milestone in tourism, with even more a promising expectaction this year.
The country known for its cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes achieved a historic breakthrough in 2024, preliminary figures indicate that overnight tourism exceeded pre - pandemic levels in the reference year 2019 and this brilliant result reflects the collective efforts of the entire tourism industry.
Last year Belize received 562.405 overnight visitors, representing a 21% increase compared to 2023 and 11.8% increase compared to 2019 and impressively. 11 of the 12 months broke records compared to 2019, highlighting March as the peak month, attracting 69.202 visitors.
As the Central American country builds on this momentum, the outlook for 2025 is more and more promising, with great opportunities to further elevate the visitor experience and entice new travellers to live and enjoy the charms of the destination, which is a true treasure trove when it comes, to tourist, cultural, gastronomic attractions, outdoor activities and several options more.
BTB, the Belize Tourism Board, the country's tourism promotion agency, remains steadfast in its commitment and efforts to developing sustainable tourism, enhancing the visitor experience, and preserving the destination's extraordinary natural and cultural heritage elevating with its example the great potential of Latin America as an important source to attract more travellers.
Belize with its 290 kilometres of coastline is a paradise of white sand pristine beaches lapped by crystal waters, a mecca for snorkeling lovers and enthusiast divers and among its natural attractions and main tourist beauties is the Belize Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the largest living barrier reef in the northern hemisphere and the second largest in the world.
In addition the country also stands out for its
abundant rainforest, where visitors can explore ancient Mayan archaeological
sites, a land rich in history, natural and cultural heritage, as well as lush
biodiversity, Belize offers a wide variety of tourist attractions, leisure and
entertainment activities as well as unique experiences for everyone with very promising prospects for a successful 2025.
