Cambodia, a country in Southeast Asia on the Indochinese Peninsula facing the Gulf of Thailand, whose landscapes spans pristine beaches, mountains, low – lying plains, the Mekong Delta, adorned Buddhist temples suggestive villages and bustling town is stepping up its efforts with plans to improve and enhance its tourism sector which accounts for 13% of of the Asian country's GDP.
At the last edition of the ASEAN Tourism Forum
2025 linked to the Association of Southeastern Asian Nations, a political and economic union of
then countries in Southeast Asia, organization established in 1967 to promote
peace, security and economic growth in the region, the Chairman of the ASEAN
Tourist Association, Eddy Krismeidi met with Cambodian Minister of Tourism Hout
Hat to discuss regional collaboration and plans for further growth in terms of tourist offer and initiatives in the tourism area.
The Minister of Tourism of Cambodia highlighted country's tourism potential and requested ASEANTA, non – profit tourism association comprising both public and private tourism sector organization from ASEAN support to establish plans to promote the sector, encouraging investments, share data and developing new tourism packages.
The Chairman of Tourism Association expressed ASEANTA's readiness to collaborate, highlighting various initiatives declaring that this meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment from both parts to advancing ASEAN's tourism agenda and Cambodia's dynamic tourism presents tremendous opportunities for partnership and ASEAN stands ready to contribute to its continued success through meaningful initiatives.
Both sides expressed optimism about the future of Tourism in Cambodia and the ASEAN region in general, with a focus on improving connectivity, professional development and sustainable practices.
