Argentina | Great Tourism Momentum in Terms of Occupancy and Consumption

 

Argentina, second - largest country in South America after Brazil, a nation which lies between the Andes mountain range and the Atlantic Ocean boasting outstanding landscapes, with vast "Pampas", National Parks, nature reserves, a rich culture highlighted by bustling cities and towns, a delicious gastronomy all around its territory is experiencing a great tourism momentum in terms of occupancy and consumption.

The Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Sports of the the Nation, reported that 4.0 million tourists vacationed in January in Mar del Plata, famed resort city on Argentina’s Atlantic coast, famous for its long string of beaches includes Playa Grande and the wide Punta Mogote top places for surfng and watersports and Córdoba, captivating city in the foothills of the Sierras Chicas on the banks of the Suquia River, famous for its stunning colonial architecture next to a relevant cultural and artistic scene and its towns in the provonce, famous for their varied landscapes, sierras and a superb gastronomy.

These numbers arise from the data released at the end of the month by the Municipal Tourism Entity, belonging to the coastal destination of Mar del Plata and by Córdoba Tourism Agency with 1.400. 000 tourists arrived in Mar del Plata and almost 2.400.000 did so in the towns of Córdoba confirming a notable recovery of the tourism industry in the country.

The records of Córdoba account for a peak in occupancy during the last weekend of the month in destinations such as Mina Clavero, captivating destination in the Traslasierra Valley, popular for its sandy, boulder - strewn beaches along the Panaholma and Mina Clavero rivers with 78%, Villa Carlos Paz, attractive resort city in the Punilla Valley on the shores of San Roque Lake with 82% and 90% in its superior hotels, Miramar, popular destination in San Justo Department and Agua de Oro,splendid centre in the Colón Department on the slopes of the Sierra Chica recorded an occupancy of 100%.

Good numbers were registered in other regions of Argentina such as in Patagonia, the Neuquén destinations of Villa La Angostura, resort town situated on Nahuel Huapi Lake, famous for its Alpine - Style wooden buildings and the outstanding Nahuel Huapi National Park offering a lot of outdoor activities and San Martin de los Andes,very attractive centre on the banks of Lake Lácar, gateway to the stunning, forested Lanin National Park reached occupancy levels of 87% and 73% respectively.

The iconic San Carlos de Bariloche, top destination surrounded by the Andes mointains, highlighted by a large glaciar lake and known for its Swiss alpine - style architecture and popular base for hiking and skiing, registered an occupsncy of more than 75% and El Calafate, town in the Province of Santa Cruz, known as the gateway to Los Glaciares National Park, home to the emblematic massive Perrito Moreno Glacier had 65% occupancy, undoubtedly a very good move for the summer season.

On the littoral, Misiones, rugged province in northeastern Argentina, home of the world's largest waterfalls, the famed Iguazú Falls, stretching for 2.7 kilometres and straddling the border with Brazil, had an average occupancy above 70%, troughout the month,while the beautiful Iguazú National Park accounted for more 160.000 visitors, representing an increase of 18% compared to last year.

Entre Rios, attractive province in Argentina's northeastern Mesopotamia region, situated between the Paraná and Uruguay rivers, known for its hot springs and home of two national parks of inmense beauty, such as El Palmar and Predelta had an occupancy of 70%.

Catarmarca, a top destination crossed by the Rio del Valle de Catamarca, a river between the two south – pointing spurs and the Andean peaks of Ambato and Ancasti, home to cultural attractions and nature, offering activities such as trekking, 4x4 vehicle excursions, bird watching and historical and archaeological sites achieved its highest occupancy level with peaks of 90%.

In this territory the destination more visited weere Antofagasta de la Sierra, a very special place surrounded by mountains that are over 6.000 metres in high and close to enoemous salt flats,Andalgalá located in a scenic valley near the captivating Sierra de Aconquija and Aconquija, famous locality which houses a representative sample of the Southern Andean Yungan montane forest biosiversity in good state of conservation and with a rich fauna.

In Cuyo, beautiful mountainous region famous for the production of fine wines, there were peaks of 85% occupancy just like in San Rafael, city in the province of Mendoza, crossed by the Diamante and Atuel rivers, great places to whitewater rafting famed for its vineyards which produce an excellent wines and 80% in Potrerillos set in the Andean foothills, within the Luján de Cuyo wine region, known for sn oustanding Malbec grape variety.

The Secretary of Tourism, Environment and Sports of Argentina, Daniel Scioli, expalained that there was an excellent January in terms of occupancy and consumption throughout the country with an average stay of more than seven days and a consumption that exceeded last year by 30% according to the merchants themselves and this corroborates what the country has been maintaining, thanks to the previous work done in collaboration with various businesses all around the national territory.
