Turkey | Top Tourist Destination in the International Tourism Landscape with a Constant Growth

 

Turkey, a country mainly located in Anatolia in West Asia with a small part called East Thrace in Southeast Europe, strategic land at the crossroads of the Balkans, Caucasus, Middle East and eastern Mediterranean that throughout its history it has acted as both barrier and a bridge between two continents, a very popular tourist destination for its several historical sites, culture, natural wonders, stunning beaches along its Aegean and Mediterranean Sea coasts, spas and healthcare elevated itself as a top tourist destination in the international tourism landscapes with a constant growth.

In 2024 Turkey tourism industry welcomed 62 million tourists, representing a 9% increase compared to 2023, tourism revenues increased by 8.3%, reaching €58.9 billion a superb performance result of strategic plans of promotion, initiatives with innovative products and a varied offer, notable digital campaigns shining on the global stage,captivating audiences worldwide.

On average each visitor spent €937 during their stay in Turkey, which is a slight decrease from the €943 expenditure recorded in 2023 but tourism receipt in the country recorded strong growth,especially in the fourth quarter of 2024 when it recorded an increase of 14.5% to €13.3 billion.

Concerning the markets in terms of incoming tourism, Russian visitors accounted for 12.8% of all international arrivals, totaling 6.7 million, a 6% year - on - year increase, followed by German tourists with 6.6 million, up 6.9% , the British with 4.4 million, up 16.7% the Iranians with 3.2 million, up 30.9% and the Bulgarians with 2.9 million, with an increase by 0/9%.

Most of the trips made to Turkey have been motivated by leisure, sports, cultural activities, with medical tourism also representing a field of interest.

Continuing this exceptional momentum Turkey's tourism is expected to have a constant growth in 2025, with more visitors and higher revenue, the country's travel and tourism market is projected to generate $11.0 billion in revenue this year.

Turkey's tourism industry is expected to grow this year, with more visitors and higher revenue also linked to  the number of visitors that is expected to increase by 5 - 10% consolidating the country as a top destination in the tourism international landscape once again.
