Managua - Nicaragua | Consolidated and Attractive Tourist Destination in Central America

Managua, the capital city of Nicaragua, country situated in Central America, a centre lying amid small crater lakes on the southern shore of Lake Managua below Volcán Tiscapa, boasting vibrant dining and nightlife, interesting museums, crambling churches and reportedly the world’s oldest footprints, highlighted by its bustling streets and tropical courtyards, elevated itself as a consolidated and attractive destination in Central America, receiving in 2024 a total of 5.058.347 visitors who enjoyed its varied offer of culture, entertainment and nature.

 The Delegate of Intur Managua, the Tourism Board of the city, Martha Baltodano, said that the boom in tourism in the department last year has driven the improvement of infrastructure and tourist services and the most relevant results include : 

 •    2.613 improvements plans implemented in companies in the sector.
•    42 businesses were upgraded.
•    1.951 companies authorized to operate in the tourism sector.
•    1.762 new jobs generated.
•    2.061 entrepreneurs and tourism collaboration trained.
•    207 new rooms enabled.
•    285 new companies identified.

Next to these notable achievements and the brilliant results concerning incoming tourism, looking ahead to 2025 the promotion of Managua will also be reinforced with tourist maps, signage in natural attractions, special events that attract more visitors and within the framework of summer 2025, the city will be the epicentre of multiple recreational and cultural activities, such as gastronomic contests, cycling rallies and tourism fairs. 

 As additional notes the governing body of tourism plans to continue with the revitalization of the sector through training 1.800 entrepreneur and workers, as well as the creation of new tourist products in municipalities such as El Crucero in the department of Managua located on the summit and slopes of the scenic Sierra de Managua, other further steps to boost and consolidate tourism in an attractive tourist destination in Central America.
