Ghana, a country in West Africa, situated on the coasts of the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean launched a 40.000 kilometres pan - african road trip spanning 39 African countries as part of the Trans African Tourism & Unity Campaign.

The trip officially begun in Accra, the capital and largest city of Ghana on 18th August 2025, and the 163 - day initiative aims to support continental unity, intra - African travel, sustainable tourism and promote a visa – free Africa by 2030.

The initiative aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, blueprint and master plan for sustainable development and economic growth of the continent, an affirmation by African Heads of State and Government of their commitment to transform Africa into a global powerhouse.

Endorsed by the Ghanian government and led by former MP Ras Mubarak, the campaign seeks to highlight Africa unity with a journey which will cover destinations across West, Central, East, and Southern Africa, includes stops in major cities of the continent such as Addis Ababa, Lagos, Kinshasa, Johannesburg and Nairobi among others.

Participants will engage in advocacy meetings with Africamn leaders, cultural showcases,  tourism focused events, presentations of letters advocating visa - free policies, press briefings and engagements with stakeholders to highlight the benefits of African integration.

Backed by partners, spanning telecommunications, finance, energy, and hospitality, the campaign underscores tourism’s potential to drive economic integration and open borders across the African continent.

The campaign, described by organisers as a bold step toward breaking down barriers, will culminate in October 2025, with participants hoping their messages resonates with leaders and citizens alike.
