Meliá Hotels International, a Spanish hotel chain founded in 1956 and based in Palma de Mallorca is set to expand its presence with the upcoming opening of a new hotel in Cusco, iconic city in southeastern Peru, located near the emblematic Sacred Valley in the Andes mountain range, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the Western Hemisphere and legendary former capital of the Inca Empire, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Hotel Cusco La Paccha Affiliated by Meliá is scheduled to open on January 1, 2026 and marks the company’s first property in this emblematic historic city of Peru.
This development is part of Meliá Hotels International’ s strategy to increase its presence in the Latin American and Caribbean market where the company has ten new projects in 2025 and in Peru where the Spanish group currently operates Meliá Lima and INNSiDE Lima Miraflores in Peru’s capital with another project, Casa de la Pila, a member of the Meliá Collection also planned for Lima.
The property formerly known as Xima Exclusive Cusco, set in a colonial - style building is located at Avenida El Sol, a few blocks away from the Plaza de Armas square, just in front of the Cusco’s largest craft market and adjacent the ornamental fountain La Paccha de Pumaq Chupan, a 10 - minute walk from the Incan ruins of Coricancha, not far from the San Pedro Train Station, providing access to Machu Picchu, and 4 kilometres from Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport.
The location is surrounded by colonial churches, markets and museums, including the Qoricancha Museum, which is five minutes aways offering guests a very easy access to all the most important attractions and landmarks of Cusco.
The hotel’s design incorporates elements of traditional Cusco architecture, with a central courtyard that provides natural light and serves as a communal area, with in addition native plants used in the patio to enhance the atmosphere.
The hotel features 167 comfortable rooms, a restaurant, a bar, a spa, a dedicated space for social and corporate events, space and will offer a “refined culinary selection”.
The new hotel in Cusco completes Meliá Hotels International’s presence along a key tourist route in Peru connecting the capital Lima to Cusco enhancing its offer in the Andean country. This strategic combination aims to offer travellers a comprehensive experience that links Lima’s urban environment with Cusco’s historical and cultural sites.
