Nigeria launched three joint tourism projects in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates, according to Nigeria’s Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa.
Speaking exclusively to Emirate News Agency (WAM), the Minister confirmed that the implementation of these developments in the tourism sector is an initiative that marks a new phase of cooperation between the two countries.
The projects include the development of the “Coco Beach” resort in Lagos, a planned high - end - complex near the beach, would feature amenities such as luxury accommodation, diverse dining options, recreational facilities, like swimming pool and possibly a spa, and business and event spaces, a cultural centre in the capital of the country, Abuja and the establishment of a flagship hotel.
The Minister of the African country revealed that work for the is already under way, with 12% of the resort construction completed, and the location of the new property is expected to be finalised in the coming weeks.
According to the Minister, these ventures will help to attract further investment from the United Arab Emirates while opening new avenues for collaboration in culture and the creative economy with both sides that have emphasized that the partnership will be built on a mutually beneficial basis.
The official also highlighted that expanding the tourism industry is a key priority for Nigeria as the country is actively working to diversify its economy and reduce reliance on oil revenues.
In addition to these projects Nigeria is making significant efforts to improve
infrastructure, including the expansion of public transport like the Lagos Blue
Line rail, bridges construction and renovation, specific projects focusing on
rural road enhancement, broader national connectivity and safety standards
through new policies and programs and actions to boost cybersecurity and
digital infrastructure.
