Kalahari Resorts & Conventions, a privately owned family - run company headquartered in Wisconsin Dells, WI, U.S. known for the development of large, African - themed indoor waterpark resorts featuring dining, spa, entertainment, and Convention centres, with locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin, has announced the future opening of a new resort in Spotsylvania in the Virginia state, conveniently located between Washington D.C., and Richmond, and close to attractions like Lake Anna State Park, Wilderness Run Vineyards and Dominion Raceway.
The resort is scheduled to open to guests on December 18, 2026, and the company started to accept booking from 12th January 2026.
The development marking the debut of Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in Virginia is located on a 135 - acre site near Dominion Raceway & Entertainment, a famous motorsports complex with a track hosting NASCAR, SCCA, and Superkart events, strategically positioned for accessibility from the greater DC - Maryland - Virginia region and Richmond, the capital city of the U.S. state of Virginia.
The resort will feature approximately 900 suites, various dining and entertainment options, an expansive convention center and Virginia’s largest indoor waterpark, spanning over 175.000 square feet.
The $900 million project will boast a waterpark rhat will offer a wide wide range of attractions suitable for all ages, including over waterslides and areas for younger visitors. Notable attractions include:
• Dawn Zambezi Breaker: A raft ride with a steep drop and vertical wall.
• Zambezi River Rapids: A multi – person raft ride.
• Safari Speedway: A racing adventure for families.
In addition to the waterpark the resort will provide family dining and entertainment experiences under one roof. Guests staying overnight will receive complimentary access to the waterpark, valid from check - in through check - out, and the resort will also offer complimentary parking and Wi – Fi.
Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is also launching a contest to name one of the signature waterslides. Participants can submit name ideas online; the contest run until January 31, 2026. The winner will have their chosen name at the resort and receive an overnight stay at a Kalahari location of their choice, along with additional credits for food, beverage, and arcade activities. Two runner - up winners will receive waterpark day passes and food - and - beverage credits.
