Greece | Tourism Revenues Grow by 12.2%

 

According to data released by the Bank of Greece, the Hellenic country's tourism revenue increased by 12.2% in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the period from January to June of the current year, travel revenues in Greece increased by € 754.8 million, reaching a total of € 6,921 million, a growth driven by a 15.5% increase in international tourist arrivals which, according to data reported by Greek institutions, reached 11.625 million, although the average expenditure per trip decreased by 3.1%.

The first market was Germany, which led revenue flows in the first half of the year 2024, contributing over € 1.2 billion, followed by Great Britain with just over € 1 billion and in third place the United States of America with € 540 million.

In terms of percentage, in the first seven months of the year Revenues from the German market grew by 7.4%, those from Great Britain by 19.9% and those from the United States of America by 1%.

Other significant figures also highlight the increase in revenues from Italy with an increase of 48.8% to € 329 million and from France with an increment of 2.5% to € 445.7 million while revenues from Russia decreased significantly with a decrease of 70.1% to € 5.2 million.
