Barceló Hotel Group, Spanish multinational company based in Palma de Mallorca dedicated to the tourism sector since its foundation in 1931 boasting a hotel division and a travel division that make it one of the most recognized companies wolrdwide expands its portfolio in Germany, specifically in the city of Dresden, capital city of the German land of Saxony, a centre nicknamed "Elbflorenz" the Florence on the Elbe River for the rich collections of arts and for its baroque architecture with Mediterranean influence located on the banks of th Elba River with the opening of the Occidental Dresden Newa, which represents the group's second hotel in Germany.

This 4-star hotel, formerly known as Pullman Dresden Newa, is located in the historic centre of the German city on Prager Straße, one of the most famous shopping streets of Dresden, close to the lively square Wiener Platz and the Dresden Hauptbanhof Nord Railway Station, with easy access to major urban attractions.

The Occidental Dresden Newa, which is part of the Barceló Hotel Group's expansion projects in Central Europe, provides 319 rooms that will be completely renovated in 2025 with a consequent repositioning by acquiring the features and identity of the Barceló Hotels & Resorts brand, thus aligning it with corporate standards for quality accommodation.

The planned renovations at the hotel will modernize the facilities and enhancing the guest experience, positioning the Occidental Dresden Newa as a prominent accommodation option in the city.

Guests during their stay at Occidental Dresden Newa will have the opportunity to discover the unique charm of the city admiring the numerous, refined baroque buildings of the city including the Zwinger Palace but also the Brühl's Terrace, the Royal Palace, Semperoper opera house, Frauenkirche and the exclusive villas in the Blasewitz borough among others.

The Director of Barceló Hotel Group Europe, José Ramón Alvarez - Cervela Rodriguez said that Europe is a strategic region for the company's expansion plans due to its enormous tourism potential and Barceló Hotel Group is always looking for opportunities that require its own investments or that arise through agreements with partners in the region.

The opening of the Occidental Dresden Newa is an important step in the growth strategy of the Barceló Hotel Group in Central Europe, this hotel flanks the Barceló Homburg Hotel in Germany and the hotel company currently operates eleven hotels in six countries in central Europe in Germany, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Hungary.
