Mexico, country in the southern portion
of North America, notable tourist destination for its rich historic and
cultural heritage, several citties and towns of art, a superb biodiversity,
popular beaches and a great resorts and hotels offer, a delicious gastronomy, a
regional power and one of the four Latin American countries with Chile,
Colombia and Costa Rica to be member of the OECD, the Organisation for Economics Cooperation
and Development through the Ministry of tourism has foreseen an economic spillover
from tourism consumption of 263.612 Mexican pesos, around €12.310 Million is
expected.
This prediction linked to the winter vacation period, which runs from 19th December 2024 to 8th January 2025, was underlined by the Mexican Secretary of Tourism Josefina Rodriguez Zamora, who confirmed that this figure represents an increase of 6.2% more than what was recorded in the same holiday period in 2023.
The Secretary of Tourism said that the arrival of 8.7 million tourists staying in hotels is expected, which means 2.1% more than what was recorded in 2023 in the same period of which 6.5 million will be Mexican citiziens and 2.2 million will be international.
For the Secretary an economic spill of 20.821 Mexican pesos is expected for lodging, which represents 7.5% more than in the winter vacation period of the previous year.
Expectations indicate the hotel occupancy is projected to reach 59.3%, with an increase of 1.2%, compared to the 58.1% recorded during the same period of 2023.
As selected destination an occupancy of 88.6% is forecast in Cancun, 88% in Nuevo Nayarit, 87% in Riviera Maya, 82.3% in Puerto Vallarta, 80.8% in Los Cabos, 79% in Ixtapa – Zihuatanejo, 74.1% in Mazatlán, 62.9% in Puebla, 58.5% in Mérida, 57.5% in Campeche, 54.9% in Xalapa and 50.2% in Queretaro.
