Cuba | National Authorities Optimist about Tourism Development

Cuba, island country located where the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and northern Caribbean Sea meet Island state of Central America, according to a report recently published by Granma, the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Communist party of the country formed in 1965 shows its optimism for tourism on the island, based on statements by the Minister of Tourism Juan Carlos Garcia.

The Minister's intervention before Parliament stands out stating that for the year 2025, 2.600.000 ariivals of international visitors are forecast, which would grow up to 18% over what was estimated for 2024.

The Minister of Tourism to highlight that, since the beginning of 2024, there has been a trend of decrease in the destination's security perception index in Cuba, and the negative impact of the "visa exemption request" on the decision of international visitors, especially Europeans and Chileans, remains.

For the Minister, it is necessary to perfect a closed financing scheme and, thus, be able to guarantee compliance with standards throughout the country's tourism system.

As a destination for Cuba, Matanzas province that includes the Varadero peninsula with its more than 20 kilometres of pristine beaches continues to stand out followed by the capital of the country Habana, the keys of Ciego de Ávila, Holguin and Villa Clara.

The Minister of Tourism considers that in the second half of the current year, no new works were invested, but work is being done on those that were already in execution.

For the Head of Cuba Tourism has been a hard year for tourism, due to labor fluctuation, the effects on the provision of services, the lack of insurance and supplies, the migratory phenomenon in tourism operations, as well as the media campaigns against the sector in the country.
