Great Britain | A New Electronic Travel Authorisation to Visit the Country from 2025

 

Great Britain has a new electronic travel authorisation to visit the country from 2025, more tham 80 countries will need an ETA, Electronic Travel Authorisation, a new rule that affects anyone visiting the United Kingdom for short stays from visa - exempt countries.

It is a pre - travel authorization for visitors from visa - exempt countries and it allows travellers to stay in the UK for short trips up to six months, whether for business, leisure, tourism and family visits and it is designed to improve security and simplify entry processes for both travellers and border officials.

If someone plan to work, study or stay for more than six months, they will still need the corresponding visa instead of an ETA, from the launch dates, anyone arriving in the UK without an approved ETA will be denied entry.

·       Who needs the ETA and when can they apply for it - The ETA system applies to 88 countries and deadlines vary by nationality and region.

·       When to Apply - Applications are now open starting on 8^th January 2025. Applications open 5th March 2025, for travel beginning on 2nd April 2025. No ETA is needed for travel on before on 1st April 2025.

·       How to Apply for ETA - Applying for the ETA is quick and easy. You need to visit the official portal, submit your application through the UK government website or through its mobile app.

·       Prepare your details - You will need your passport, travel plans and a payment method for £10.0 approximately $12.50 fee.

·       Submit your application - Most applications are processed within 48 and 72 hours, but applying at least a week before your trip is a good idea.

·       Enjoy multiple visits - Once approved, your ETA is valid for two years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

·       What happens if you don't have an ETA - From the launch dates, if you arrive in the UK without an approved ETA, you will be refused entry. For this reason, it is essential to request it it in advance to avoid any interrumption of the trip.
