Merkel Capital, a real estate investment and development company headquartred in Barcelona, Spain characterized by solid concepts to develop special projects without renouncing its values, boasting a portfolio of more than 4.000 beds in the Spanish territory, has announced the opening in July 2025 in Seville, capital and largest citiy in the autonomous community of Andalusia, a new student residence - hotel providing 500 rooms, which will complement hotel services for residents who visit or go to work in the Andalusian city.
The new Merkel Capital property is strategically located on the Isla de la Cartuja, a piece of land in the city of Seville, shared with the nearby municipality of Santiponce, located between two branches of the Guadalquivir River, one a living river and the other a dock.
This location is between the Higher Technical School of Engineering and the Alamillo Park a few minutes from the Faculty of Communication of the University of Seville and the San Isidoro University Centre, with a total of twelve academic institutions less than two kilometres away, as reported in a statement.
The new residence - hotel will provide apart the 500 rooms two swimming pools, a paddle tennis court and a fully equipped gym, as well as a reception 24/7 all year round, to adapt to the individual needs of each resident, and has starting prices of €616.0, VAT included, per month, according to the developer.
Seville is a city has more than 70.000 higher education students between its two public universities, the US and the UPO, and the private one, Loyola, to which the CEU Fernando III will be incorporated in two years, and 33% of the students come from other Spanish provinces while 5% are international mobility, including those of the Erasmus program.
According to the company, Seville expects to end this year with a total of 8.000 places in student residences for a growing demand of more than 24.500 students looking for accommodation who come from outside the city.
Merkel Capital group already has an operational student residence in Andalusia with 300 rooms in Granada and has just bought land for the development of another, with more than 300 rooms in Malaga.
In addition, the developer has 700 more operational rooms in two establishments, one in Pamplona, major city in the community of Navarra in northern Spain, very close to the campuses of both the public, UPNA and private, UNAV universities and in Sabadell - Barcelona in Catalonia with a property consisting in a 500 – room residence under construction.
Further plans of development by Merkel Group are in the capital of Spain, Madrid, a purchase of a land in Valencia and expanding also internationally in Italy and Portugal to complete its network.
