Anguilla | Celebrating a Record Uptick in Visitors Arrivals

Anguilla, a British Overseas Territory in the Eastern Caribbean, part of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles, well known for its vibrant culture, pristine beaches, a mild climate all year round, boasting a unique natural setting, luxury hotels and resorts and famous for its incomparable cuisine is celebrating a record uptick in visitors arrivals.

 In December 2024, the Caribbean island welcomed 23.871 visitors, a number marks a 24.5% increase from December 2023 and representing the highest amount of arrivals for the month of December since 1993.

 According to data released by Anguilla Tourism Authorities in 2024 visitors arrivals for March and December marked Anguilla's best - performing, returning to the strong performances seen pre - pandemic in 2019 while June and October marked Anguilla's best performing months over the previous year's visitor arrivals. 

Further interesting details reveal an increase in stay - over tourists drove the in visitor arrivals for December 2024 and notably 99.3% of visitors arrived for vacation, while the remaining 0.7% were on business trip. 

This surge is attributed to increases in both stay-over tourists and day trip visitors, particularly from the USA, Canada, and Caribbean markets and the island is also focusing on attracting new markets, enhancing the travel experience with infrastructure improvement like the new Blowing Point Ferry Terminal.

Officials said that the United States of America remains the island's top regional source market, meanwhile markets such as Canada and also Latin America are displaying relevant growth.

Anguilla's Directoe of Tourism, Stacey Liburd said that these impressive figures showcase Anguilla's growing appeal to travellers, confirming Anguilla status as a preferred choice in the Caribbean.

This accomplishment is the result of strategic collaborations with Anguilla public and private stakeholders, along with regional partners, as well as the ATB, Anguilla Tourist board's successful marketing efforts.

Deputy Director, Chantelle Richardson stated that the British Oversees Territory in the Eastern Caribbean tourism authoritie remain committed to welcoming travellers from relevant established markets in the U.S., Canada and the UK, while simultaneously exploring new markets.
