The British Virgin Islands, a British overseas territory located the east of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands in the Leeward Islands of the Lesser Antilles and part of the West Indies, a volcanic archipelago in the Caribbean comprising four main islands and many smaller ones, well known for its stunning reef - lined beaches, pristine nature and as a relevant yachting destination experienced a remarkable increase in tourist arrivals in Q1 2025.
According to the Central Statistics Office, the Caribbean territory recorded 106.750 overnight visitors arrivals in the first quarter of 2025, up 6.4% on 2024.
In March alone, the British Virgin Islands welcomed 40.569 overnight guests marking the first time, since 2017 that monthly overnight arrivals surpassed 40.000 tourist arrivals.
In addition to overnight stay growth, day - tripper arrivals surged by 60%, reaching 5.799 during the first quarter of this year.
The Director of tourism of the British Virgin Islands, Clive McCoy stated that the British overseas territory is continuing the upward momentum experienced in 2024, when the destination welcomed over one million visitors for the first time since 2016.
Overnight stays are key indicator of the health of the local tourism industry, benefiting both land - based and marine accommodations and driving economic activity.
Finally the Director of Tourism added that cruise visitor arrivals dipped slighty by 2.5%, the overall impact on total arrivals was minimal.
