Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) located in Yeadon, in the City of Leeds Metropolitan District in West Yorkshire, England,UK about 11.2 kilometres northwest of Leeds downtown, and 14.4 kilometres from Bradford city centre officially completed first phase of £100 million terminal extension.
LBA has opened and started operations from its new terminal, marking the end of its first phase of the airport' ongoing £100 million Leeds Bradford Airport Regeneneration terminal expansion project that has modernized the arrivals process by adding a baggage reclaim area and upgrading the passport control facility to incorporate advance security technologies.
This new innovative, expanded terminal also brings a significant 83% increase in seating, providing passengers views of the runway and also include a broader drink and food offering, offering travellers more choice and variety.
To further enhance travellers pre - flight experience, passengers can access two premium lounges, including the Six Eight One Premium Lounge, which offers seasonal menus featuring freshly prepared, locally sourced produce.
CEO of Leeds Bradford Airport, Vincent Hodder expressed his enthusiasm to see the new terminal extension open and operational, commenting that it has been an incredible journey to get here, and knowing airport's customers are going to get a completely new experience from LBA. It's an exciting time for the airport employees, stakeholders and business partners, the opening of this building is a huge achievement for all involved.
By the time the Leeds Bradford Airport Regeneneration project is completed will have :
• 38% more floorspace.
• 76% more retail space.
• 83% more seating.
• A 77% increase in luggage reclaim belt capacity.
• 50% more security lanes.
Work on Phase 2 of the project has begun focusing on refurbishing the existing terminal to further improve passenger experience and modernize existing terminal infrastructure and operations that will lead to some changes to the usual passenger flows, particularly for those departing from the airport.
Upon arrival at the terminal, passengers will notice hoardings and scaffolding at the terminal front, a relocated Meet & Greet parking area, and changes to bus pickup and drop - off zones.
A dedicated webpage on the Leeds Bradford International Airport website will be regularly updated with information throughout Phase 2.
Commercial Director of Leeds Bradford Airport, John Cunliffe said that the completion of Phase 1 is a huge milestone for LBA. The new terminal is officially open and ready to welcome passengers, offering improved facilities and enabling to deliver an enhanced experience for passengers in the region.
