Paphos, a centre located on the southwest coast of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, boasting a very rich cultural and historical heritage, inhabited since Neolithic times, highlighted by several sites relating to the cult of goddess Aphrodite, whose mythical birthplace was at Old Paphos, ancient ruins of tombs, fortresses, theatres and villas at Paphos Archaeological Park, signed a contract to create the town's new Tourism Information office.
This move marks a new chapter in Paphos' tourism development with a project gets green light to enhance the promotion of a city that boasts a relevant attractiveness, an ideal destination for history enthusiasts and a great choice for travellers seeking beautiful nature.
The municipality of Paphos confirmed it has signed the agreement with the construction company B.K.V. Exelixis General Construction Ltd to carry out the works on behalf of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.
Paphos' Mayor Phedonas Phedonos and the company's Director, Demetris Konteatis signed on behalf of their respective parties for a project will see the transformation of a selected site into the new central headquarters of the deputy ministry's local office.
The total cost of the works is €234.430, including VAT and the entire amount is being financed by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.
The location of the new office was carefully chosen and it will be located in the heart of the old town, next to the central bus station, a spot with heavy tourist traffic, and near two major museums that are due to open soon.
Paphos' Municipality will oversee the six - month project, which includes strict timeframes in the hopes of completing the work ahead of schedule.
Once completed, the Tourism Information Office will accommodate four permanent staff members, it will become a relevant point of reference acting as the main hub for visitor information and support, serving both tourists and locals.
The municipality stated that the project supports its broader aim of revitalising Paphos historic centre and is expected to improve everyday life for residents while also strengthening the city's image and reputation as a cultural and tourist destination.
This partnership with the Deputy Ministry of Tourism highlights the efficiency and speed at which important local projects can be delivered highlighting the municipality commitment to projects with a direct and positive impact on the local community.
