Venezuela | Remarkable Growth in Tourism Attributed to a Strategy of Economic Diversification and International Agreements

Venezuela, a country on the northern coast of South America, known for diverse natural attractions, a rich biodiversity, pristine beaches along its Caribbean coast and tropical resort islands experienced a remarkable growth in tourism with an increase of 72% during the first half of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the Minister of Tourism, Leticia Gómez, who announced this information in a note broadcast by the state channel VTV, Venezolana de Televisión.

This significant rebound is attributed to a strategy of economic diversification and international agreements, including the recent reactivitation of tourist flights with Russia, a measure seeks to encourage the arrival of international visitors and further enhance the Venezuelan tourism industry.

The country is also focusing on regional tourism partnerships with neighboring countries like Brazil and Colombia and is experiencing an international interest in adventure and nature - based experiences, natural beauty and biodiversity.

In addition, the South American country is experiencing a recovery in tourism with strong emphasis on domestic travel, prioritizing sustainable tourism and working to improve safety for visitors.

The Minister of Tourism stressed that, at the international level, the country has forged bilateral agreements with various nations.

The country developed a specific tourism collaboration program that emphasizes training, education and exchange of experiences, although the Minister did not offer specific details about these agreements.

The head of Tourismc of Venezuela emphasized that the country is immersed in a process of economic diversification, positioning tourism as one of the priority sectors to promote the country's economic and social growth.

Finally, the Minister of Tourism stated that tourism is a key component of the country's "economic transformation" acting hand in hand with the social sphere.

In this sense, the ministry works together with universities and schools to develop professional and community training mechanism in tourism which suggest a focus on training the sector's human capital.
