IHCL, the Indian Hotels Company Limited, hospitality group part of Tata Group, based in Mumbai, boasting a large portfolio of hotels, resorts and vacation properties all around the Indian territory is planning to open 15 new hotels in East and North India.
These new developments will be located in the states of West Bengal, Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh, and will include a mix greenfield, brownfield, and conversion projects.
This IHCL's expansion that is the result of an agreement with Ambuja Neotia Group, a company based in New Town, Rajarhat, Kolkata, led by visionary entrepreneur Harshavardhan Neotia, a prominent Indian conglomerate with diverse interest in real estate, hospitality, healthcare and education renowned for creating distinctive properties and for its innovative designs and commitment to sustainability.
This agreement aims to enhance the tourism potential in East and North India, regions identified for their untapped tourism and travel opportunities. The collaboration between The Indian Hotels Company and Ambuja Neotia Group seeks to leverage the strategic locations and the notable resources of various destinations in these territories to attract both domestic and international travellers.
This relevant expansion follows a previous strategic partnership between the two companies, which included the development of the Tree Life brand.
This initiative will increase the collaborative portfolio of The Indian Hotels Company and Ambuja Neotia Group to over 40 hotels and the planned properties will be predominantly operate under the iconic Taj brand, a globally recognized luxury hotel brand offering a range of experiences, from city hotels and resorts to grand palaces and safari, known for their warm Indian hospitality, world - class service and attention to details.
Additional properties will be under the SelQtions, a collection of hotels that each have a unique identity and location aim to provide experiential stays for travellers seeking something beyond the ordinary and Tree of Life, a brand of boutique resorts and hotels, known for their tranquil locations, offering a chance to experience the authentic India through unique and immersive stays.
Specific locations for the new hotels include a Taj resort in Sunderban, Darjeeling, Shimla and Rabong, SeleQtions hotels in Kolkata and Siliguri, and Tree of Life in Lataguri. The development will also feature Taj branded villas in Darjeeling, Sikkim, Lataguri, and Raichak.
The projects are expected to be completed over the next five years. The initial phase includes the signing of four hotel operating for a Taj in Darjeeling, a SeleQtions in Kolkata and Siliguri and a Tree of Life in Lataguri.
These new hotels are expected to contribute to the growing demand for luxury accommodations in the regions promising a notable impact in the local economy.
