The Dominican Republic | Established an Unprecedented Strategic Alliance with FCCA to Boosts Cruise Tourism

The Dominican Republic, through its Ministry of Tourism, has signed an unpredented strategic alliance with the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), a not – profit trade organization created in 1972, composed of 23 menber cruise lines operating nearly 200 vessels in Floridian, Caribbean and American waters to boost cruise tourism.

This landmark strategic agreement aiming to boost investment and increase cruise passengers arrivals was signed by Tourism Minister of the Caribbean country, David Collado and FCCA President Adam Cesarano in the presence of the Dominican President Luis Abinader.

The agreement outlines initiatives such as organizing private meetings with cruise line executives to develop services, products, and local sourcing, as well as creating a national strategy to employ Dominican talents in the cruise sector and hosting the FCCA Platinum Members Conference in 2026, which will bring industry leaders to the Dominican Republic.

In addition, this established alliance includes in the agreement technical evaluations of passengers experiences and access to specialized training through the Aquila Centre for Cruise Excellence, a renowned provider of training and certification for the cruise industry with over 35 years of experience and based in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.

This partnership positions the Caribbean nation among the few countries designated as FFCA regional strategic presidential partners, enhancing its role in the cruise industry attracting great investments, and strengthening the country’s competitiveness in the region and globally.

Valid until December 31, 2026, this alliance consolidates the Dominican Republic’s  position as a regional benchmark in the cruise industry and its commitment to establish itself a key driver of economic development and job creation in the sector.
