Michoacán, a state located in western Mexico, known for its stunning colonial cities like UNESCO - listed Morelia, breathtaking biodiversity including the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, Pacific coastlines, all set within a rugged, mountainous landscape, highlighted by a rich gastronomy, famous to be the world’s largest producer of avocados and often referred to as “the Soul of Mexico” for its deep cultural roots, historic towns and for boasting one of the most diverse indigenous populations in the country launched Tata Pancho, a virtual toursy assistant powered by Artificial Intelligenge (AI), with which the Michoacán Tourism Secretariat seeks to provide greater support to those who visit any corner of the state.
The Ministry of Tourism of Michoacán, headed by Roberto Monroy García, presented Tata Pancho, the first virtual tourist assistant in all of Mexico, a tool that will serve top support who travel “the soul of Mexico” and that can be found on the official website: https://visitmichoacan.com.mx/.
This digital tool works with AI, which simulate an Michoacan man with representative of the “Danza de los Viejitos” (the Dance of the Old Men), with which you can interact to obtain recommendations of places of interest, a character which acts as a travel designer developing tailor made itineraries based on the tastes and budget of the travellers.
Another of Tata Pancho’s functions is that in addition to its written response capacity, it also does so through voice, for a more complete and inrteractive experience.
This new virtual tourist assistant works from specialized agents and an exclusive database with tourism data in Michoacán. The answers are fed by verified information, which includes official tourist guides, information on hotels and restaurants from the National Tourism Registry (RNT) and it has structured content on destinations, activities, experiences, gastronomy and tourist routes.
During the presentation of Tata Pancho The Ministry of Tourism of Michoacán was accompanied virtually by the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, who highlighted this innovative tool stating that this development is the power of digital transformation and that now Tata Pancho will go around the world. In this way, Michoacán state will be promoted nationally and internationally, and this character will publicize all tourism products of the destination.
In addition the Secretary of Tourism emphasized that Tata Pancho is the first of its kind in the entire country and its purpose is to support tourists to live a great experience in Michoacán, an extraordinary place.
The official added that this is just the beginning, since the database will continue to grow and update to integrate more relevant information, which will allow Tata Pancho to have everything necessary to promote the Mexican state in a complete, reliable and attractive way.
The feedback provided by users, indicating whether an answer was useful or not, will also help the system learn and adjust to offer increasingly accurate and relevant information.
