Egypt recorded a tourism high in 2025, welcoming nearly 19 millions visitors, uo 21 per cent year on year, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
This relevant performance was driven by enhanced security, infrastructure improvements, New Alamein City’s 450% surge in flights, improved air connectivity with flights from 193 cities, charter flights that increased by 32% in 12 months, and diversification into cultural, leisure and beach tourism (Hurgada, Marsa Alam, New Alamein), all essential factors that determined the North African country growth.
Egypt's success is also highlights by a strong interest in both heritage sites and new destinations, with significant rises in museum visits. Archaeological sites and museums across Egypt, excluding the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), played a pivotal role as they welcomed 18.6 million visitors, an increase of 33.5% compared to the numbers recorded in 2024.
Egypt welcomed a record 14.9 million visitors in 2023 and 15.7 million tourists a year later, and after this successful 2025 the country is actively working to attract 30 million by 2028.
Goals for the Future:
• Build on the momentum for sustainable growth.
• Attract 30 million tourists annually.
• Further simplify travel procedures and enhance visitor experience.
The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, described 2025 as a historic year for Egyptian tourism, highlighting the country’s ability to combine cultural, beach, leisure and entertainment in a single destination.
