Hilton Worldwide Holdings, Inc., American multinational hospitality company based in Tysons, Virginia, has signed an agreement with THE SANKEY BUILDING CO., LTD, a company headquartered in Tokyo, operating a variety of business, inxluding office buildings, commercial facilities, condominiums, rental residences, hotel resorts and senior facilities and HASEKO Real Estate Development, Inc., a firm also based in Tokyo specialised in construction, real estate and engineering to open an LXR Hotels & Resorts property in Hakone Gora, the geographic and cultural heart of the Hakone mountain resort area in Kanagawa, a Japanese coastal prefecture just south of Tokyo.
Set within Momijidani, a popular autumn foliage spot, Hakone Gora is a premier mountain resort hub famous for its therapeutic hot springs, historic terraced parks, scenic mountain railways and world - class museums. Nestled in the forested hills above the Hakone caldera, Hakone Gora seamlessly blends traditional Japanese relaxation with European - style attractions.
The hotel will be located close to cultural and artistic landmarks including the Hakone Open Open - Air Museum, the Hakone Museum of Art, and Gora Park, approximately a three - minute walk from Koen - Kami Station on the Hakone Tozan Cable Car line and about 90 minutes by train from central Tokyo.
The property scheduled to open in summer 2028, will be managed by Hilton aned will be the first - managed hotel in Hakone.

The property will join XR Hotels & Resorts, a collection of 40 trading and pipeline properties. The brand is a hand - picked collection of independent hotels and resorts, known for their unique and locally inspired experiences, bespoke service and distinctive character. LXR properties are situated in alluring destinations around the world, offering discerning travellers a base for personal adventures.
In Japan, the brand opened KOKU KYOTO LXR Hotels & Resorts in 2021, with additional properties planned in Hiroshima, Hokkaido, Niseko, Hokkaido, and Tokyo.
The agreement to open LXR Hotels & Resorts in Hakone Gora is part of Hilton’s strategy to expand its luxury portfolio in Japan and enhance its presence in East Asia.
