The Cayman Islands, a British Overseas Territory, encompassing three islands in the western Caribbean Sea are the peaks of an underwater mountain range called Cayman Ridge or also known as Cayman Rise flanking the 6.000, metres deep Cayman Trench situated 6.0 kilometres to the south,well known for its pristine beaches, unspoiled nature, excellent gastronomy and offering abundant activies shows a growing tourism particularly supported by greater air connectivity.
Tourism figures in the, according to data release by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, the destination reports 330.514 total visitors between january and september 2024, a data that included 57.000 visitors in march, the second highest monthly total in the incoming tourism history of the Cayman Islands.
The Cayman Islands saw an 11% increase in airset capacity from the U.S, the United Kingdom and Canada which are the three major markets, with 397 more flights in total than last year.
It is noteworthy the contribution of North American tourism, the U.S. market grew by 2.0%, Canadians increased 2.6% and also Europe recorded strong growth with an increment of 13%.
The Director of Tourism of the Cayman Islands Rosa Harris declared that the stopover visits during the nine months of 2024 are a testament to the groundwork that the department of Tourism and our partners have established since the reopening of our borders in 2023 with our investments in marketing and our strategis commitment to our partner airlines to ensure a steady increase in air travel to the destination.
