Palazzo Pitti, iconic Renaissance palace located in the capital of Tuscany, Florence, one of the most charming cities of Italy and of the World, situated on the south side of the River Arno, a short distance from the emblematic Ponte Vecchio bridge, a palace that in half of a millenium has welcomed three dynasties linked tothe most relevant nobility and monarchy spheres such as Medici, Habsburg - Lorraine and Savoy, part of the museum complex of the Uffizi Galleries, joined ARRE, the prestigious Association of European Royal Residences.
The application, submitted a few weeks ago was immediately accepted and the Director of the Uffizi, Simone Verde stated that now will be possible to create even more effective synergy with sister palaces of Palazzo Pitti, in the name of the greatness of the common European history.
ARRE, the Association of European Royal Residences is an organisation active since 1995 which includes some of the most important castles and palaces in the European continent like the iconic Palace of Versailles in Paris and in Italy, the Reggia di Venaria located in the province of Turin in Piedmont, one of the 14 Residences of the Royal House of Savoy among others.
The aim of the association is to preserve and enhance these cultural assets, organizing scientific activities, training, promotion ad collaborations with other bodies for this purpose.
The Director of the Uffizi added that the Uffizi Galleries and Palazzo Pitti, new member of the Association of European Royal Residences will be pleased to make their contribution as a centre of museological research at an international level.
